**UK Urges Israel to Halt 'Deplorable' Gaza Hospital Attacks Following Strike on Al-Ahli Baptist**

**London/Gaza City –** British Foreign Secretary David Lammy issued a stern call on Sunday for Israel to cease its "deplorable attacks" on Gaza's medicalfacilities, following an Israeli strike that significantly damaged the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital, one of the few remaining functional healthcare centres in the devastated enclave. The incident has drawn fierce condemnation from Palestinian groups, while the Israeli military stated it targeted a Hamas command centre operating within the hospital grounds.

Writing on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Mr. Lammy stated, "Israel’s attacks on medical facilities have significantly reduced access to healthcare in Gaza. These deplorable attacks must stop." He underscored the need for diplomacy, adding that only a political solution, not continued "bloodshed," could lead to a "lasting peace."

The call

came after reports emerged Sunday morning detailing an attack on the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza City. According to Palestinian medics and emergency services, two Israeli missiles struck a building within the hospital compound, destroying the emergency and reception department and causing damage to other structures.

  • Health officials at the hospital confirmed they evacuated patients from the
  •  affected building shortly before the strike. One individual reportedly
  •  received a warning call from someone identifying themselves as Israeli
  •  security moments prior to the impact. While the Gaza emergency services
  •  reported no immediate casualties from this specific attack, the incident

forced the displacement of already vulnerable patients and families sheltering there. Unverified footage circulated online showing distressed families leaving the area, some pushing patients on hospital beds.

Hamas swiftly denounced

the strike as a "new war crime" perpetrated by the "fascist occupation army." In a statement early Sunday, the group declared, "The bombing of Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital, the destruction of the reception and emergency building by occupation aircraft, and the displacement of patients and wounded within it... is part of the series of brutal crimes committed in the Gaza Strip.

" Hamas described Israel as a "criminal entity rogue to all laws" and explicitly blamed the United States administration, stating the attack occurred due to American "cover and collusion" and a perceived "green light" from Washington.

The Gaza Government Media

Office echoed the condemnation, calling it a "horrific new crime." The office highlighted the hospital's significance as one of Gaza's oldest and most vital health institutions and accused Israel of a "systematic plan to eliminate what remains of the health sector," noting that 34 hospitals had already been put out of service during the conflict, allegedly in violation of international conventions protecting medical facilities.

In related developments, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) confirmed Sunday that a PRCS paramedic, As'ad Al-Nassasra, missing since late March after an incident where Israeli fire killed 15 aid workers, is being held by Israeli authorities. Separately, the IDF reported intercepting a projectile launched from Gaza towards Kibbutz Re'im in southern Israel on Sunday afternoon, with no injuries reported.

This comes as Israel announced on Saturday it had secured control over a key southern Gaza corridor and intended to expand its military operations across most of the territory. Amidst the ongoing conflict, Hamas's military wing also released a video purportedly showing an Israeli-American hostage criticizing the Israeli government's handling of the hostage situation.
